How can I improve my WiFi coverage?

Is your WiFi coverage not reaching every inch of your home or office space? That’s a problem. Especially with so many connected devices in our world and more to come. Fortunately, there are many ways that you can improve your coverage. Here are some tips and technologies that can help you improve your WiFi coverage.

Routers

When you are experiencing slow WiFi or a weak signal, the first thing to check (pretty much always) is your router. If your router is blocked or in a poor placement in your home, that’s an issue. These obstacles could be the reason that your wireless signal is struggling to reach every corner of your space.

How to fix this issue:

  • Try moving your router to a more central location in your home.
  • Make sure your router is not near to or blocked by large metal objects or thick walls.
  • Raise your router higher up. If it is on the floor, it’s not in an optimal position.
  • Upgrade your router to a more modern model.
  • Upgrade your router with better antennas.

WiFi Extenders

Your router isn’t the issue? Phew. That’s great, since it is the heart of your home network. But if that isn’t the problem, then what do you do? Look to WiFi extenders.

The original issue is that you want to improve your coverage, so a WiFi extender could be the solution. WiFi extenders do their name sake: they extend the reach of your WiFi signal.

You do need to make sure that you have a strong wireless signal, otherwise the extenders will extend a weak signal throughout your space. These devices do not make your signal better, but they do help improve your coverage.

MoCA Network Adapters

MoCA network adapters supplement your wireless network. They do this by creating an additional wired internet connection that works alongside your wireless internet connection. As a result, you have full coverage in your home. The wired connection from the MoCA adapters is more reliable and stable than your WiFi.

Powerline Network Adapters

Powerline network adapters also help you get rid of dead zones in your home like MoCA adapters do. However, powerline adapters are different than MoCA adapters. They work with G.hn standard and use different wiring in your home. Powerline connection is fast connection. And because it is wired and working alongside your wireless network, it helps give your home full coverage.

Optim Managed WiFi

Last, but certainly not least, Optim. Optim is a WiFi network management tool. How does managing your WiFi improve your coverage? By making sure everything is secure and running smoothly!

A home network management tool means that you don’t have to do the dirty work to make sure that all of your connected devices are safe, running smoothly, and helps with troubleshooting if needed.
